Meet Sana Aslam

Sana Aslam is passionate about classic fairy tales and magic realism of the Angela Carter variety. She recently finished a Creative Writing MA at Nottingham Trent University and her work has been published in the anthology Moths at the Bus Stop (Launderette Books, 2013). Her inspirations include the works of David Almond and the films of Hayao Miyazaki. She currently lives in Derby and is working on her first novel for middle grade children, The Changeling Book.

Meet Mark James

Mark James is a graphic/web designer based in Nottingham. Two hobbies of his are photography and stage set design/building, both of which he inflicts upon the unsuspecting people at the Lace Market Theatre in Nottingham.

Mark was the photographer for Restless Minds on launch night. You can check out all the photos he took here.

Meet Rory Waterman

Rory’s debut collection of poetry, Tonight the Summer’s Over, was published by Carcanet in November 2013 and is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. He lectures at NTU, where he also leads the Creative Writing MA.

He writes regularly for the TLS and other publications, and is currently working on his second critical book, on the anglophone poetry of the Second World War. He was born in Belfast in 1981, grew up mainly in Lincolnshire, and returned to the East Midlands in 2012.

Meet Michaela Panaretou

Michaela is currently a final year student in the BA English with Creative Writing course at Nottingham Trent University. She spends a lot of her spare time writing and is currently working on a fantasy novel which she hopes to have published in the future.

Meet Oliver Clark

Oliver likes to explore new worlds and our dark sides within his writing. He is simply, a mad hatter. After beginning a Creative Writing MA in 2012, he was published in the Nottingham Trent University Anthology, Moths at the Bus Stop. He now aims to finish his teenage fantasy novel, Shadowmouth.

Meet Hayley Tivey

Hayley Tivey is a twenty-three year old student from Nottingham. Currently in her second year of studying English with Creative Writing at Nottingham Trent University, she hopes to become a novelist after graduating. Children’s fiction is very special to her for its ability to educate and inspire young readers.

Meet Paul Adey

Paul Adey is from Nottingham. He is a first year student at Nottingham Trent University currently studying English and Creative Writing. He is thirty-four years old and has recently began writing short pieces of fiction. He is inspired by writers such as Ernest Hemingway, Edgar Allen Poe, Jean Rhys and Raymond Chandler. His short story is entitled M6 and is set on a strip of motorway near Yorkshire.

Meet Georgina Lock

Georgina teaches scriptwriting on the MA and BA programmes at Nottingham Trent. She comes from a practical background in theatre and film making.

Short films she has written and directed include “Short White Pleated” (2002) which has enjoyed long popularity at international film festivals.She is currently adapting one of her original screenplays into a historical novel as part of a Creative Writing PhD. Photo courtesy of NTU.

Introducing Alexander Gunnarsson

Alexander Gunnarsson is currently studying Art and Design at Kingston University. He has experience in illustration, and both graphic and stage design. Alex is keen to expand his abilities via continuous learning as well as by undertaking new challenges. He will soon be opening his own freelance design company; details are yet to be revealed!

Meet David Corbett

David Corbett was born in Nottingham and now lives in London. He holds a BA in Fine Art from the University of Lincoln and an undergraduate diploma in English Literature from Birkbeck University of London. He is currently completing the Creative Writing MA at Nottingham Trent.
